The World We Live In, And Ball In General

So…
Greetings.
Welcome to "Obviously, You’re Not a Golfer." The runner-up title was Pepper Sauce, which has a little bit more baseball content I suppose. But on the downside, it’s not a Big Lebowski reference.

I cover the Cardinals for MLB.com, which is a fine, fine job to have. I’m a lucky fellow. If there’s a downside to having a beat, however, it’s that it means I’m not a columnist. So this space will be here for me to toss opinions out there and start some discussion, to report on life from exotic locales such as Milwaukee and Cincinnati, and generally to put a little more personal face on things.

It won’t just be ball, though I do love ball. We’ll talk music. We’ll talk travel. We’ll talk college football.

So here goes.

I find myself shaking my head in disbelief over and over again this season. Either the Cards have the BEST BENCH ever – or we are leading a charmed life, or both!

Someone ALWAYS steps up and delivers. Tonight it was ‘Mabes’ coming off the bench stone cold and delivering big-time again.

And as big as his triple was, it would matter not if JRod’s blast (and i do mean blast) had not started the night right.

So the Stars of this game are JRod, Mabry, Luna and Eckstein and the Fantatsic Mr. Locked-In, Carpenter – and Izzy. It is great to be a Cards fan isnt it? Can’t wait to see who does it tomorrow…

Doug (Evansville)

That’s the second time in less than a month that Eckstein has laid down the perfect squeeze for a game winner. It’s got me thinking about the lost art of bunting. Who have been some of the great bunters in the game?

I, for one, would love to see a Matthew Leach column. I will have to settle for a blog for now.

Congrats, Matthew. Good to see further blurring of the lines between columnists, beat writers and bloggers.

Just don’t forget about fantasy sports, too!

So, Busch Stadium is to be demolished at the end of the season. Does this mean that the custodial crew can’t hammer down nails or, better yet, replace them with good construction screws. Walker’s turned ankle was bad enough, but to have the same thing happen to J-Rod is rediculous. Come on, Grounds Crew, get off your duffs and protect the players.

Okay now the Cards may have another gold glover in Gudz this is a crazy game we get rid of 2 GG’ers and now Grudz is ready and don’t forget Molina as well so I wonder what team has the most Gold Glovers in it’s history? is it the Cardinals.

What’s up with Matt Morris? He’s not been real sharp the past couple of games.

Alright, I’m a Life long St. Louisian, and of course a die hard cardinals fan. All i Have to say is; first of all, the Cubs blow, second of all, the Cards pitching is the best i have ever seen it, and third of all, st. louis is the best baseball town in the world. Long live the cardinals

If you wish to succeed, you should use persistence as your good friend, experience as your reference, prudence as your brother and hope as your sentry. Do you think so?
