Theme Music

Over at his always-fun MLBlog, Jesse Sanchez posed a fun question. And because I’m an utter music geek, it’s something I’ve thought about a lot. Jesse went with the new Chili Peppers single. Can’t say I’m surprised. He seems more like the Jim Edmonds type, a guy who’d have a new song every few months. I think I’d be more in the vein of having one and sticking with it, but I don’t know.

Coming up to bat, I think I might want the introduction to New Order’s "Touched By the Hand of God." But if I were a pitcher, I suspect it would be the start of the Jay-Z/Linkin Park version of "99 Problems" — I forget which LP tunes are mixed with it, but if you have Collision Course, you know what I’m talking about. Soundgarden’s "Outshined" would also be a great call either way.

What about y’all?

“Rain” by the Beatles or “Street Fighting Man” by the Rolling Stones.

I actually thought about this the other day at the game. One of them was “Shake Me” by Cinderella. I have no idea why. I think it would get me fired up.

Jim Edmonds has a new son every couple of months? I mean, I knew he likes to have a good time, but that’s gotta get expensive after a while!

Anyway, I’d go with “The Harder They Come” by Jimmy Cliff

“slow death” by the Flamin’ Groovies

“call me the breeze” by Skynyrd when the occasion call for it

Heh.

I saw that as I was shutting down last night, and decided not to fix it because I was ready to go home. Ah well.

“So now you know… WHOOOOO gets mystifiiied!”

I don’t know what song I would use, but Giants rookie Kevin Frandsen, who says Craig Biggio is his idol, should use Pat Benatar’s “Hit me with your best shot”

As a batter, Boom by POD.

As a pitcher, the beginning of the song The Sickness by Disturbed.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude

As a batter, “Man in a Box” by Alice in Chains.

for me, as a batter, I would go with “Walk” by Pantera.

As a pitcher, I might go woth something a little more chilled out like “40 oz. to Freedom” by Sublime.

As a pitcher, especially a closer, it has to be the Carmina Burana. The opening to “For Whom the Bell Tolls” has nothing on it.

Batter? Hm. Maybe “So Alive” by Ryan Adams. It somehow manages to bring both focus and relaxation at the same time.

Pitching and hitting theme song would be either “Boilermaker” by the Jesus Lizard or “Mountain Song” by Jane’s Addiction. That would rock, but I think both songs would contribute to my striking out even more than was ever thought possible.
