Live from Memphis, it's Saturday night!

So, the bride and I are at AutoZone Park, and it’s really an outstanding facility. Top-quality all around. I highly recommend this place if you get the chance to come down.

Hopefully if you do, however, you’ll have better weather than we’re having here tonight. The scheduled start time was more than half an hour ago, and the tarp is still on the field — though they’re trying to remove the water from the tarp now so that they can remove the tarp from the field. Here’s hoping, because it would be nice to see a ballgame tonight.

For those who asked about Spivey, that story probably isn’t going to happen. He declined to speak when I asked him before the game. Which is not to say that he’s not worth writing about. It’s something worth pursuing, for sure. But it’s tough to tell his story if he doesn’t want to talk.

Best news of the day — really outstanding Memphis barbecue for the press meal. Can’t go wrong with that.

So anyway, that’s the update/dispatch for now. Thanks to radio man Steve Selby, media relations guy Kyle Parkinson, team president Dave Chase, and everybody else down here for making us feel extremely welcome. Memphis is a great place to be.

I know this not pertain to this blog, but it is turning out that that the Juan Encarnicion free-agent will probably not be the worst free-agent signing the Cardinals ever made.(my opinion a few months ago) I still think they are paying him too much, and his OBA will always be too low, but he is finally playing well for the Cardinals on a consistent basis.

I gotta visit Memphis sometime, if for no other reason then for the BBQ!

Anyway, did you here TLR say Reyes isn’t ready over his one bad game this season? And yet it sounds like Ponson could be finding his way out of the rotation…what’s going on?

Reyes has one bad outing(and it was not even that bad) and LaRussa says he is not ready? What is LaRussa trying to do? Anger Reyes, or destroy his confidence? I wish LaRussa would shut up, call Reyes up, and keep him up, instead of treating him like a ******* yo-yo.

Kennedy,

LaRussa may have said that sarcastically. Don’t always trust what you read. Tony may have been joking and sometimes it doesn’t translate well in print.

How can you question LaRussa? He’s the third winningest manager and a genius in his own mind! And why isn’t he pitching Carpenter against the Sox, the World Champions, on Thursday? Oh, better to save him for Detroit and put in the rookie against the Champs. Nothing like getting swept to gain a little confidence with Pujols still out with his little strain. That play was almost as bad ****. Sosa throwing out his back with a sneeze. The Cards blowout last night showed why they couldn’t beat Houston last year, to make it to the Series. Good thing, the Sox would’ve beat them by a combined 56 runs for the series at last nights rate.

Ummm…

Carpenter couldn’t go on Thursday. That would be short rest, probably not the best idea for a guy with three starts since coming off the DL. Instead, he’s going against the team with the best record in the American League. I don’t really have a problem with that.
