**** it, Dude. Let's go bowling.

Your faithful correspondent is officially on vacation until 2008. Take ‘er easy, everybody.

SWEET!!! Vacation!!!

“Ralphie, Wake up!!! It’s Christmas! It’s Christmas!!!”

Don’t shoot your eye out, Matt!

Have a wonderful Christmas and happy New Year Matthew. Hopefully when you get back we’ll have had more to discuss (ie moves involving the rotation). Here’s to a better 2008.

“There’s just one thing, Dude… Do you have to use so many cuss words?”

Enjoy the vacation, Dude. My company is off from the 23rd until the 1st, and I’m taking vacation from the 6th through 13th… Two vacations in a three week span. ****in’ A, dude.

Enjoy your vacation…hopefully when 2008 starts we will have figured out how to get another decent starter in the mix!

Merry Christmas to you and Mrs. Dude and have a great new year in 08. I will be incommunicado for a while myself. Leeaving for Nigeria on January 9th on a mission trip. Won’t be back until the 23rd. All I want for Christmaas is my two FRONT pitchers!

Ralphie as an adult in A Christmas Story:

“I have since heard of people under extreme duress speaking in strange tongues. I became conscious that a steady torrent of obscenities and swearing of all kinds was pouring out of me as I screamed………GO CARDS!”

Merry Christmas to all.

So Taguchi signed a one-year deal with the Phillies today. No details released yet.

Good for So. Love that guy.

Matt: Your latest appears to imply that there’s a connection between Rolen and the youth movement… hmmmm. But, then again, my tea leaf reading skills are pretty lame.

cards announced they signed Matt Clement to a one-year deal with club option. No money terms announced yet.
Not a bad move considering there isn’t much out there on the FA market.

I like the clement signing. I think it will help us with very little chance of burning us.

sounds good to me… veteran who can be tweaked a little and improved – assuming he’s healthy.

I’d like to know how much he’ll cost, but at first blush, I like it. I REALLY like it. This is the guy I was hoping they’d go after. When healthy, he was a very, very good pitcher. Now if he just comes with a reasonable price tag…

I’ve read about 1.5 mil plus incentives based on IP that would reach over 5 mil (200 IP). The option is supposedly 8.75 mil with a 250K buyout, both go up based on IP, maxing at 11 mil and 2 mil (respectively) if he gets 200 IP and finishes in the top 5 in CYA.

We re-signed Miles!!! So happy…

I like the Clement signing! I hope we get one more of the (Benson,Hernandez,Colon) mix or Trade a package of Reyes and something else for a starter. As I think we need more security then just Clement. I’m glad we signed Miles now we can stop listening to people complain about how we didn’t resign the scrappy, hustling BACKUP NEVER STARTER Infielder.

signing Miles gives Cards a backup in case Kennedy flops plus someone who can play 2B
and bat RH in case Tony wants to use a platoon system. He can also fill in at SS tho he is not a great solution.

He is versatile.

Dude, how’s it goin’ man? How was Christmas and New Years? Did you get a new rug, man? You know, to tie the room together. My Christmas went well and New Years was fun, without drinking into oblivion. What do you think about **** Clark still doing New Years Rockin’ Eve, even though he can barely speak? I admire him for hanging in there to get 50 years or whatever, but it was brutal to watch.Your thoughts?

And by the way I just want to say I like the Clement signing a lot. It gives me reason to trash talk to my Cub fan co-workers if he does well. Here’s to the comeback player of the year! (fingers crossed in hopes)

I’m a bit upset about the re-signing of Aaron Miles. He may have been decent, but he was old, had no power, was poor defensively, and a waste of 1 million dollars. I think we should have just let Brendan Ryan have a chance, he’s younger and cheaper. Not only that, but he played 2b, 3b, and ss. Aaron Miles plays 2b and ss, and is terrible at both.

The thing with this is it gives us insurance in case Ryan isn’t ready. We’d figure that Ryan will be playing next year as either the primary SS/2B or at least the #1 backup at SS/2B/3B. Miles will do decent as the backup this year, just give him a chance.

Cards should not trade Rolen yet. He is unknown quality, damaged goods. So he has little trade value.
Give him until July trade deadline to see how he performs and if his value rises. Then only trade him if Cards are out of contention.

By then I hope Mulder and **** are back and healthy so pitching need would be less.

If that happens it makes Wainwright the number 3 starter. NOT bad. But that is a big IF.
