ooooo…I’m excited…I feel much better about our pitching situation now that Lohse is on board – just because it gives us another dependable arm so we don’t have to play so much musical mounds this year.
good job, Mo!
I know that there seems to be a trend where fans are looking at this upcoming season as a disaster waiting to happen. I myself feel pessimistic many times when thinking about the summer. For once though, lets look at this pitching staff with health related rose colored glasses.
The Potential pitching staff on May 15th:
Staters:
Wainwright
Lohse
Pinero
Mulder
Clement
Relievers:
Izzy
Looper
Springer
Franklin
Kinney
Flores
Johnson
Extra useful arms:
Thompson
Wellmeyer
Reyes
Villone
and all the promising kids we’ve been hearing about all spring.
That is a pitching staff that can win some games. With the way the outfield is coming together, if there is any production at all up the middle, this is a team that still has a chance.
Add Carp to that rotation after the all-star break and things get scary. Mo could then make some deals by trading pitching and filling whatever holes present themselves.
Now I know the odds of all these healthy returns aren’t great, but atleast a couple of them could happen. Don’t forget folks, hope springs eternal.
Hopefully Reyes, Wellmeyer and Thompson can give the Cards some quality starts
early on until Pinero, Clement and Mulder return.
Robstabs- THANK YOU! I’m so glad you are a Cardinal supporter like me and don’t give up on a team before you see them in a real game! That’s a good feeling! I think the Cardinals are going to be like we always are- a contending team. We have 1 bad year RIGHT AFTER a World Series and everyone treats them like they are the Royals! So… Go Cardinals!
