Sunday lineup, and no move

We may or may not get a game in. The weather is awful, and the forecast is worse. But they haven’t called it yet, and that gives me some notion that they’re at least going to try.

First, the Cardinals ended up not making a move after all. It’s the same 25-man roster.

The lineup vs LHP Ted Lilly:
1. Ryan 2B
2. Rasmus CF
3. Pujols 1B
4. Ludwick RF
5. Molina C
6. Duncan LF
7. Greene SS
8. Freese 3B
9. Wellemeyer P

I am a die hard Card fan and have come to the point in time that I must wonder what in the heck is Cris Duncan doing in this lineup?

He ia a defensive liability every time on the field. The baserunning stupidity that he exhibited in Saturday’s loss is the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back.

To be doubled off of second like that with the game on the line is well……….best left unsaid.

Duncan can hit lights out and would likely be very valuable trade bait to an AL team in search of a DH/1B. Could possibly get a legitimate reliever in the deal.

Sorry for the negative(s) here Card fans but I can’t help but wonder if Duncan Sr. is the only reason he is with the Cards.

We’re talking about left field, not shortstop. Duncan’s hitting 381/471/714. It’s a no-brainer, IMO. I’ve never seen a defensive player so bad that you wouldn’t play him in left field for a 381/471/714 bat.

Was it a bad baserunning play? Yeah, looked that way to me. That was one out. He’s no Gold Glover, either. But there’s zero doubt — zero — in my mind that his offense makes him worth playing. It’s not even a close call.
