Ludwick to DL, Stavinoha up
The Cardinals announced that Ryan Ludwick’s right hamstring strain will in fact send him to the 15-day disabled list. They are recalling Nick Stavinoha from Triple-A Memphis to take Ludwick’s roster spot.
In 30 games for Memphis this season, Stavinoha is batting .264 with a .341 on-base percentage, a .427 slugging percentage, four home runs and 25 RBIs. He’s been hot lately, going 13-for-38 with five extra-base hits in his past nine games.
Stavinoha has played almost exclusively at first base this year, with one appearance at catcher. He was an outfielder for most of his professional career.

This is pretty bad news, we wanted to refine our outfield, but not like this! I’m not Stavinoha’s biggest fan, but we’ll see what he can do. -English Redbird
Will this get Yadi some looks at cleanup? Hope RL gets well soon. We will definitely need him if we’re going to be for real.

I think vs RHP it’ll be Duncan in the 4 spot. Vs LHP… could be some very interesting lineups.

Why not Joe Mather? He’s better defensively, I think and he can also play third and first. Nick could be another Duncan out there.
Mather is 1) hurt and 2) in a terrible, season-long slump. Not an option.

I did not know Joe was injured again or still injured. Too bad.
