Wednesday lineup

Ok folks,
I have been a life-long Cards fan growing up on the West coast, ever since I watched a young shortstop taking his first steps as a professional ball player for an “A “club in Walla Walla, WA(I was 7). That was 30 years ago, as much as I was a huge fan of Whitey Ball, I’m not much of a fan of TLR or the way he goes about his buisness on the field. Looking at today’s lineup, I’m thinking that maybe it’s time for Mo to realize that this is not a team that TLR wants, and to no one’s surprise TLR will use lineups, like late last summer and now to make all of us aware of what he think s of the budget. The fact remains though that TLR and Dunc are the only ones to blame for such a poor farm system, to support the big club when injuries strike, trading away top talent, for role players or situational lefties, etc….
The Cardinals farm system is again starting to produce some talent, and has some prospects that could really improve this organization in the years to come, the other night in Washington, TLR showed up a young arm(Boggs) and an entire starting pitching staff, who by the way, has one win and no quality starts since. This is not a great team by any stretch of the imagination, nor is it a championship contender, but 2-3 years down the road there are key components to build around and instead of wasting youth for fill gaps and an 13 pitcher bullpen, get some new blood in the dugout, someone that brings some fire and passion again, they win and lose dull just like their manager.

Complete agreement here, CF89. Stavinoha simply isn’t a major leaguer, and Robinson isn’t ready yet, if he ever will be.

I’m not as pessimistic as you are about this season, jr. TLR isn’t to blame for the perfect storm of injuries. It would be as premature to write the season off while that storm is in progress as it would have been to predict a pennant because of the fast start. Let’s ride this out — people will start recovering soon — and THEN see what the team looks like.

I gotta say I agree with jr. I’ve been griping about TLR’s style on this forum since it started! I don’t like the way they ousted Jocketty or Rolen or many others that La Russa couldn’t check his ego for. It’s mathematically impossible for us to write off the season, but logically it’s not. This team, even fully healthy, is not a championship team. Counting on Carpenter to be healthy was nothing short of idiotic. Moving Skip to second instead of going after the O-Dog was nothing more than a huge gamble. Not trading Ludwick at the peak of his value was dumb as can be. As much as I want to, I can’t bring myself to spend my hard earned money at Busch stadium. It’s just not worth it.

Shaun, putting aside anything else, I assure you that TLR had NOTHING to do with Jocketty’s departure. Quite the contrary, they were enormous allies.
