Monday early tidbits and lineup: Wellemeyer, Boggs, Glaus, DeRosa

* Todd Wellemeyer has been scratched from his scheduled Tuesday start due to some discomfort and inflammation in his right elbow. Mitchell Boggs is expected to make the start. It appears likely that Wellemeyer could go to the disabled list.

* Troy Glaus’ back is improving. He will meet with Dr. Paletta tonight, and he’s hoping that he might be cleared to swing off a tee tomorrow. He said that he’s been throwing, and that his shoulder is actually improving quite a bit.

* Mark DeRosa is available to come off the bench if needed but is not in tonight’s starting lineup. He’s dealing with some soreness in the right side of his upper back. There’s a good chance, according to TLR, that DeRosa will be back in the lineup tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about the questionable comments RE: Welley’s injury. Hope he gets back healthy and that he can clear out all the noise and just get hitters out. Things are clickin’ well after that Pirates series… let’s continue to make every game count. Go Cards!

Glad to see K Greene get a start, he is stroking the ball good. Mark will be back tom. It is nice to have a strong bench. Go Cards !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info Matt! Hopefully Wellemeyer makes a strong recovery, and pitches well upon his return. BTW, Matt is FA Ben Sheets still out for the season? I haven’t heard anything new about him.

Thanks for the blog Matt. It has been an invaluable source of info for a Cards fan 10,000 miles away.

I don’t know about you, but I take comfort in that…knowing that you’re out there bloggin’ for all us sinners.

If Hawkesworth continues to provide quality in the role of setup man, this takes a strain off the front office’s efforts to find one. McClellan has been inconsistent and Motte is probably near gettnig a ticket back to the minors where he can learn to spot his pitches somewhere besides the middle of the strike zone. Now that the Red’s Harang and Arroyo have cleared waivers, what will happen to them? Anybody out there who wants to rent them for a couple of months? With their records and huge salaries, they couuldn’t command much in the way of a trade.
