M,
Read your post on B. Ryan and yeah he is in a slump, but it just looks like all the Cardinal bats are dragging through the hitting zone. Watched baseball tonight and they had a segment on Pujols this season compared to seasons past. I quote an advanced scout saying that “Pujols does not have the same bat speed and swing he has had in the past, he is more suspect to off-speed and breaking balls, there is nothing about the Cardinals that scare you like seasons past except 3.5/5 of the starting rotation.” End of quote.
Well I agree on one thing with him this Cardinals team looks over matched by even an average starting P on most days. I’m assuming that the .5 of the rotation means Penny or Garcia in a series. Have to wonder how much influence McGwire has on this team as Avg’s continue to plummet. The middle infield is young and not proven IMO, Lopez needs to get back and start at one of those positions daily.
My order when he gets back,
1. Lopez SS/2B (depending on who’s on the mound v.)
2. Rasmus CF (Everyday regardless of Lefty P)
3. Holliday LF
4. Pujols 1B
5. Ludwick RF
6. Freese 3B
7. Molina C
8. Ryan/Greene SS/2B( Again dependent on P)
9. P
I left Shue off the list he would be lefty off the bench spot starter OF/2B, he’s not a leadoff hitter in the Majors. And yes he has posted 300 avg’s but didn’t play v. lefties, and thats AB’s missed. TLR has infused the lefties can’t hit lefties so much it’s carried over to the Cardinals as a team can’t hit lefties regardless. This team used to rake lefties!
