Holliday, Berkman interested in Derby
Plenty of All-Star Game content over at Cardinals.com, including some video to come later in the afternoon. But in the meantime, a little nugget on the State Farm Home Run Derby.
Both Lance Berkman and Matt Holliday said that they would be interested if invited by National League team captain Prince Fielder. Both also said they have not yet been approached, though.
“It would be hard to turn down an invitation,” Berkman said. “That would be tough to say no.”

Hey, Matthew … we drove back from Baltimore on Friday after enjoying the 3 game series against the Orioles. When game-time rolled around, we couldn’t pick up KMOX yet, so we tuned into the Reds game against the Indians. The Red broadcasters pointed out before the game that the Reds trailed the first-place Brewers by 2 games. They did not mention that the Cardinals were also 2 games up on the Reds and tied with the Brewers. Apparently, they aren’t real concerned with the Cardinals.
What a year Lance Berkman is having! I have followed him since he was playing for the Rice Owls. Berkman is a competitor and a gentleman. The year he is having could not happen to a better man. I always dreaded his bat when the Cards played the Astros.
Molina is having a nice year too. Should have been voted in, but his talents are appreciated. Good for Holliday also. Albert P. will be back. Voters weren’t very proud of our team and our pitchers were totally neglected. Recent drop-offs in pitching production contributed to that.
Hoping the Cards can get it all together before long. Who cares what the Reds or Brewers think about us. They have their own problems. Voters think Milwaukee has some talent.
